Halloween is just around the corner. It’s the perfect time for kids to let their imaginations run wild and transform into their favorite characters, creatures, or superheroes. Whether your little one is into spooky monsters, classic movie characters, or adorable animals, there’s a Halloween costume idea out there to make their holiday memorable. In this blog post, I’ll share some fun Halloween costume ideas for twins, couples and the whole family. I’ve included photos and links to any of the costumes we have worn over the years.

Halloween costume ideas for couples
Before we had kids, my husband and I attended a few Halloween parties where they asked us to wear a costume. We were able to put together a few good ones. But I have also seen a couple of other costume ideas that would be perfect for a pair.
The Devil and the Angel – this one is simple if you are pressed for time. You can go to the local Halloween costume store and probably find a simple red cape or maybe even a full Devil costume. The trick for the angel costume is whether you want it to be modest or not. There are a lot of costumes out there were they are going for the sex appeal for sure. But you could easily grab a halo and wings and then add it to a cute white maxi dress. Or even a cute white jumpsuit.
Police Officer and Inmate – we actually did this costume as a way to announce our pregnancy. I held up a sign that said sentenced 18 years to life and held it over my belly. We thought about doing the announcement of another pumpkin is being added to our patch. But we went with the costume approach instead.

Kermit and Ms. Piggy – We got our costumes from Party City I believe. The funny thing is that when we got them home the Ms. Piggy costume would not fit over my chest. So, we had to switch costumes and I went as Kermit, and my husband went as Ms. Piggy. Which made the costumes funnier.
Cleopatra and Caesar – This is probably one of my favorites that we wore to a Halloween party. I can’t find the exact links to the ones that we wore. These ones are close if you are wanting to do this combination for your Halloween costumes. Cleopatra Costume and Caesar costume links

Fred and Wilma Flintstone – This one is another cute couple costume idea. It also works if you just had a little girl as well that could be Pebbles. Fred and Wilma costume Link
Gomez and Morticia – this one is easy to replicate if you have long dark hair like myself. Throw on a black dress and part my hair down the middle with some makeup to make me look paler and maybe play up my eyes or with a red lipstick. If your partner has a pinstripe suit, they could add a mustache and again part their hair down the middle and slick it with some gel.
Halloween Costume Ideas for Twins
One of the fun things about being a twin mom is coordinating my twins in either matching outfits or putting them together in something that is cohesive. What better time than at Halloween to find a theme for their twin costumes. Here are some ideas for twins Halloween costumes:
Ketchup and Mustard – you have probably seen this as an idea/suggestion for a twin Halloween costume because a lot of people do this one. But that also means you might be able to find them at a twin sale or on Facebook Marketplace reasonable as their twins have outgrown the costume
Mickey and Minnie – if you have boy/girl twins this is a cute Halloween costume idea. You can easily find Mickey and Minnie ears to add to a red dress and a little suit or pants with suspenders outfit.
Thing 1 and Thing 2 – this is another popular twin Halloween costume idea. When we did this one for our family, we also incorporated older brother to be the Cat in the Hat. So if you have an older sibling this is another idea to coordinate all of their costumes. I did red pajama sets and then used these patches and attached them to their shirts. Older brother wore a black pajama set and I got him white winter gloves and the red and white striped hat.

Buzz Lightyear and Woody from the Toy Story movie – this one is a cute one if the kiddos are into the movie. But also super easy to find costumes for it. We did this one as a family and did my oldest as Forky, my husband dressed at Mr. Potatoe Head and I dressed as Jessie from the movie.
Elmo and Cookie Monster – my twins were obsessed with Elmo and Cookie Monster when they were little. This would have been a cute idea for a Halloween costume for them. It is perfect if it is a colder Halloween night for trick or treating as the costumes would be warm and fuzzy. Elmo and Cookie Monster costume links
Halloween Costume Ideas for a Family of Five
If you are like us and want to try to put together a family themed Halloween costume, then here are a few ideas of what we have done in the past:
The Wizard of Oz – we had one of our twins dressed as the tin man and the other was the cowardly lion. My oldest dressed as a flying monkey. I was the wicked witch and my husband dressed as the scarecrow. It was a cute theme, and we got a ton of compliments. Especially for our creativity with my son’s flying monkey costume.

The Circus – you could have the Ringmaster, the clown, an elephant, a lion, the strong man or the bearded lady. Or you could have a tarot card reader.
The Zoo – you could have the zookeeper and then have everyone else dress as animals from the zoo. Maybe their favorite animal or something you are able to easily find or make for a costume
Characters from Toy Story – as I previously mentioned we did characters from Toy Story one year. One was Buzz Lightyear, another Woody, my oldest chose to be Forky, we had Mr. Potatoe Head and Jessie. But you could pick any of the characters from the movie: like Bo Beep, the dinosaur Rex, Slinky Dog (which is also a cute twin costume as well).
101 Dalmatians – this one I have had on my radar for a while but haven’t pulled it off yet. My plan was to be Cruella Deville and then have my little dalmatians following me.
Halloween is a time for kids to explore their creativity and have fun. I hope these ideas spark some creative Halloween costumes for your kids or your whole family. Whatever your child’s interests, there’s a Halloween costume waiting to bring their imagination to life. Get ready to create unforgettable memories as your little ones as they step into their Halloween alter egos. Enjoy the spookiest night of the year!
